Free-to-play fighting game MultiVersus is currently available in Open Beta. And while it certainly has its share of issues to fix, MultiVersus' soft launch has proven to be a striking success. Unsurprisingly, many players are already looking to MultiVersus' future and asking what content and features could be added soon. One major request for MultiVersus is the addition of a replay system, so matches can be re-watched or shared. The good news is that developer Player First Games is planning on replays, but there's a catch.
In a message shared on Twitter by MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh, the Player First Games co-founder confirms that a replay system is on the game's development roadmap. In other words, the team plans to add a replay system in the future, but it's not necessarily anytime soon. It may not even have been started, yet. Huynh elaborates on this, saying that «it might be some time» before Player First is able to add replays to MultiVersus.

While it isn't explicitly stated, major features like replays are often evaluated to judge whether they can be completed well before a game's launch. If a system like replays is judged to be beyond the scope of what the development team can reasonably accomplish in the time it has, it's pushed into the nebulous future. Player First Games would almost certainly love to add replays and may have even built MultiVersus around the idea of adding replays later. But its priority right now is finishing and polishing MultiVersus as it stands in preparation for full launch.
