MultiVersus, a free-to-play fighting game with various characters from Warner Bros. IPs, won’t be affected by the company’s ongoing merger with Discovery. While promising, the news doesn’t clear all the issues regarding the game, as it’s been recently confirmed that the anticipated Season 1 was indefinitely delayed.
Although MultiVersus launched just last month, its first Season was expected to start next week, on August 9. According to devs, however, the anticipated MultiVersus Season 1 had to be postponed alongside the addition of Morty Smith from theRick and Morty animated series as a playable character. Sadly, the team didn’t provide any particular reason for the delay, but assured the community that it is still dedicated to delivering exciting new content. For now, it is unclear when exactly Season 1 will launch.

According to a recent update by MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh on Twitter, the game won’t be affected by the ongoing Discovery and Warner Bros. merger. The community’s concerns over potential risks for the game were initially driven by the Batgirl movie’s sudden cancellation, which came as a surprise for fans and the production team alike. On top of that, the Scoob!: Holiday Haunt animated series was also canceled, which was a troubling sign of internal restructuring within Warner Bros. It’s obvious why these events led to concerns over the game’s future.
