MultiVersus' director Tony Huynh has revealed that the team is working on a "big overhaul" of its hitboxes, and that it's the reason why Finn hasn't been nerfed yet.
Although MultiVersus is enjoying quite a bit of success in its early access period, it's not without its fair share of problems. One of the biggest issues that players are reporting is wonky hitboxes on certain characters, both in the sense that some fighters aren't getting hit when they should be, and some are dealing damage and hitting players well outside of where their attack is landing.

It looks like fixing those hitboxes is one of the next big priorities for the MultiVersus team, as the game's director, Tony Huynh, has announced that it's working on a "big overhaul" of them. Interestingly, it seems like sorting out the hitboxes is also causing a delay to adjusting characters, as Huynh mentions that Finn hasn't been nerfed yet because of it.
In response to a player asking whether Finn would be getting a nerf that toned down how much priority his moves get, Huynh said, "We’ll be looking at Finn in sections, we are working on a big overhaul of our hitbox/hurtbox system so don’t want too many moving parts".
Adjusting the hitboxes seems like a good thing to prioritise for the team, as players have been reporting certain characters feeling unfair since the game's initial early access open beta period. Some of the characters that are getting the most flack for their hitboxes include Wonder Woman and her bicycle kick spike, Jake's stretchy punches, and pretty much all of Finn's moveset, but specifically the infamous backpack.
