New details about John Wick 4 have come to light, including how the film will be the longest in the series so far. Director Chad Stahelski told Collider that John Wick 4 is «longer than the other three,» while also pointing out that the film is «not that long.»
Stahleski didn't reveal the movie's actual runtime. For comparison, the longest runtime in the series so far was John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum, which was 131 minutes. John Wick Chapter 2 was 122 minutes and the original John Wick was 101 minutes.
Stahelski told the site that the team is on «the final stretch» to get the movie to «picture lock.» After that, John Wick 4 will add further post-production elements before its release in March 2023.
«VFX are going to be coming in throughout the rest of the year. But we're dangerously close. In our edit, as far as our picture lock goes, we're within a few minutes of locking,» Stahelski said. «Our sequences are done. The movie is essentially done. There's probably another few weeks of tweaking overall, then we lock picture, and we're about music sound and the effects.»
In addition to Keanu Reeves as John Wick, the film brings back Lance Reddick, Ian McShane, and Laurence Fishburne, while newcomers include Bill Skarsgard, Donnie Yen, and Clancy Brown.
Apart from John Wick 4, a spinoff titled Ballerina starring Ana de Armas is in production.
