MSI is preparing to launch its brand new Z790 MAX series motherboards which will feature support for Intel's 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs. Today, we have got full PCB breakdowns & exclusive pictures of these motherboards.
We got a nice look at MSI's Z790 MAX motherboard lineup featuring four new products during the Computex showcase, the MEG ACE MAX, the MPG Carbon MAX WIFI, the MPG EDGE MAX WIFI, and the MAG Tomahawk MAX. As expected, the motherboards will be featuring full support for Intel's 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh Desktop CPU lineup along with faster DDR5 memory. The VRMs will also be tuned to support the higher wattage that these chips consume along with better heatsink designs to make sure that the cooling is adequate under the most stressful loads.
MSI MEG Z790 ACE MAX Motherboard
Starting at the top, we have the MSI MEG Z790 ACE MAX which comes with a 24-Phase DUET Rail power system with 105A SPS power stages. The LGA 1700 socket is powered by dual 8-pin power connectors while the four DDR5 DIMM slots offer up to 7600 MT/s+ support with up to 192 GB of capacities. The board features five M.2 slots, two PCIe x16 slots (wired x16 / x8) which are Gen 5 & one Gen 4 x8 slot. While most of the I/O remains the same, the two major features are WIFI 7 and 5.0 GbE LAN support.
MSI MPG Z790 Carbon Max WIFI Motherboard
Next up in the lineup are the duo of MSI MPG MAX motherboards, the Z790 CARBON MAX WIFI, & the Z790 EDGE MAX WIFI. The Carbon Max is equipped with a 19 Phase Direct power design with 105A SPS power stages while the EDGE Max is equipped with a 16 Phase Mirrored Power design & uses 90A SPS power stages. The Carbon supports up to DDR5-7600+ memory whereas the Edge is capable of supporting DDR5-7200+
