While announcing an upcoming stress test for Mortal Kombat 1's online, the official MK Twitter account seems to have suggested that 2v2 fights will be making a return.
Earlier this month, NetherRealm and Warner Bros. finally confirmed that the studio's next game is Mortal Kombat 1, a timeline reset that takes place in Fire God Liu Kang's new universe. The reveal trailer was bloody and revealed several returning characters, but it didn't really tell us much about how the game plays, with the Mortal Kombat website doing most of the heavy lifting by confirming a "new fighting system" as well as new game modes and the Kameo Fighters system.

While we've still not officially heard about what any of these new modes are going to be or what makes up the "new fighting system", the official Mortal Kombat Twitter might have just given one of them away. Yesterday, the account confirmed that there will be an online stress test for Mortal Kombat 1 sometime in the near future, giving players the chance to try out the game's 1v1 mode for the first time and give the servers a run for their money.
Stress tests are normal for most online games nowadays, but notice how I specifically mentioned a 1v1 mode. That's exactly what the Mortal Kombat Twitter account did in a follow-up tweet, saying, "This test will prioritize online 1v1 matches. A Warner Bros. Games account is required to participate."
