Overwatch recently had a developer stream going in-depth with some of the main features launching with the Season 6: Invasion update, including PvE story missions, the brand new player progression system, and the new PvP game mode: Flashpoint. PvE Story Missions Takes place shortly after Winston's recall. Some heroes who haven't met each other will interact, like Lucio and Reinhardt. The story mission maps were originally based on PvP maps. The levels are 4-5x larger than PvP maps. New turrets for Torbjorn are shown, including an ice turret which slows, similar to Mei's Primary Fire. The Underworld event mission expands on King's Row, taking place under the PvP map. Hero Mastery Missions Solo content to challenge yourself and hone your skills. Releases with during the midseason patch in September. 5 Heroes will be available on launch: Tracer, Reinhardt, Mercy, Winston, and Sojourn. Each mission will have scores based on time to complete and completion percentage. There are multiple difficulties, with a different course for each difficulty. Player Progression New player progression system launches with Season 6. The new system recognizes the way you play the game, not just that you play the game. Earn progress per hero, not overall. Different stats are tracked to show off how you play each hero. There is no cap for any category, to avoid you playing in a certain way to level up your progression.
