Monthly Microsoft Teams active users count has hit a new milestone on Tuesday as it has crossed the 270 million mark worldwide. It surpassed the mark in the second quarter that ended on December 31st. This achievement was announced in Microsoft’s second quarter earnings call. Microsoft Teams has continued to grow in popularity over the last couple of years. The video collaboration app declared in July 2021 that it crossed 250 million, and in one quarter MS Teams has added more than 20 million users to reach this new milestone.
Microsoft Teams’ popularity has soared in recent times. One testament to its global credibility was Microsoft recently partnered with Zebra Technologies to launch a walkie-talkie app for Teams supported by a range of Zebra smartphones. These phones came with a push-to-talk button on the side that allowed people to instantly communicate. This was built keeping frontline workers in mind. And now that the video conference platform has reached the 270 million users mark, it is interesting to check out other milestones it created.
Microsoft reported that in the second quarter, more than 90% of Fortune 500 companies began using MS Teams and it was witnessing significant growth in the current quarter as well. It was also announced that the number of active Teams Rooms devices had doubled year-on-year (YoY).
MS Teams also became a go-to app for frontline workers. Microsoft stated that the usage of the platform among frontline workers doubled YoY. One of the most significant contributors to this number was Walmart, whose over 2 million frontline workers communicated on Microsoft Teams in the second quarter of FY22, reported WindowsCentral.
