Apex Legends has seen a huge boost in players after launching its 12th season, reaching a concurrent of 392,996 on Steam alone. According to analyst Benji-Sales, the game has consistently outperformed EA's expectations each quarter.
Its peak before Season 12 was 330,879, meaning that the new content ushered in over 60,000 concurrent players, breaking the record substantially. That doesn't account for Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, or Origin, either.

It's hard to gauge the individual stats given that other platforms don't list player count like Steam does, but we do know that over 28 million new players got into Apex Legends last year, bringing the total to around 128 million. EA also reported that active players in Apex is up 30 percent from last year already and that the number is growing, so the game is doing well on other platforms, too.
The new season brings an entirely new game mode, as well, that being Control, and there are murmurs of an imminent Xbox Series and PS5 version - that spike in players might just be the beginning of Respawn's continuing success.
But it isn't all sunshine and rainbows. There's a new map in the rotation that's proving unpopular to competitive players while a new anniversary skin is being sold at $164, outraging players due to its hefty entry price. In spite of these teething issues, Apex Legends is still going strong and EA predicts that it'll only grow even further through 2022.
