The name id Software has been a prominent one throughout the games industry since the 1990s, and still carries weight to this day. As the studio responsible for Doom and Quake, id cemented itself long ago as one of the most important development teams, particularly when it comes to laying the foundations for the modern first-person shooter. Unsurprisingly, then, the enormous company is keen to hire the best of the best, and a new job posting on the Zenimax website suggests there's likely to be a new AAA action title in the works.
At this point, there is no way to say what the game will be, but the job ad states that id Software is currently on the lookout for a «combat designer,» specifically it's looking to hire someone with extensive knowledge of the Doom games, but especially the reboot and Doom Eternal. This suggests that there may be a new entry in the long-running influential series that could be coming out. However, it cannot be ruled out that the studio is also working on a follow-up to 1996's Quake, a title which made almost as big an impact on gaming when it was released as its predecessor.

Of course, this is only speculation at this stage as the advert doesn't specify, for obvious reasons, what the new recruit will be working on, but says they will be designing «high quality» game play, and building «combat spaces.» Given that Zenimax was hiring for id Software in late November 2021, namely an artist and animator, there is the possibility that this could be related to a new Quake game.
