Monsters & Memories is gearing up for its public playtest this weekend, and the team has a taste of what you can expect and says to have fun testing the old-school inspired MMORPG.
In a new trailer showing off the game and some of what you can explore, we get a look at character creation, exploring the world, some of the bestiary that will populate it, and a number of other locations and features.
The test begins on December 9th at 1 PM Eastern and runs for 34 hours uninterrupted until 11:00 p.m. Eastern on Sunday night. In addition toletting players test out the game and explore the world, it's also a way to show the progress the team has made in development and gives them a chance to stress test the servers. There will be at least two servers, one in the US and one in the EU. If there’s enough demand, they may open more.
In their announcement with the guidelines around the test they say «This session should be about having fun and enjoying the game” so you shouldn’t feel like you need to go looking for bugs. For the devs, “We’ll gather some good data and keep an eye out for your videos and feedback”.
Yes, videos and feedback. Feel free to stream, record, and share images and details about the test and your experiences. If you have previously created characters during a test before they will still be there and you can continue playing those characters this weekend. At the end of this test, the team will keep the highest level version of all of your characters.
The team has a major update set for release in early January, which will take the planned November and December updates and combine them into one huge update. What they learn from this test should help them with any final improvements and polish before that
