Modern Warfare 3 Will Be a Continuation of Last Year's Call of Duty, Activision Confirms | Push Square
No matter how crazy this wild world of ours gets, we can always count on the inexorable march of the Call of Duty franchise to stay on track. Call of Duty 2023, however, is doing things differently for the first time in the series' long history. Following some convincing leaks from insiders and the bragging of professional basketball players, Activision has confirmed this year's game to be Modern Warfare 3, continuing the story of last year's release.
Bloomberg's Jason Schreier brought us the news on Twitter, citing earlier reporting that the story of last year's Modern Warfare 2 would continue and that certain content in that game would be brought to the next. Activision confirmed this to be the case to Schreier, which is kind of an exciting prospect, actually. Development was led by Sledgehammer, with support from Infinity Ward, Raven, and others.
Call of Duty traditionally releases a new game every year, so to see this kind of continuity is quite surprising. Apparently beginning life as a «premium expansion» to Modern Warfare 2, Schreier has been walking this beat all year and appears to have been right on the money from the get-go.
