A new model of the PlayStation 5 (dubbed the PS5 Slim by the masses for convenience’s sake) has been in the rumour mill for some time now, and though an announcement has yet to be officially made by Sony, more concrete evidence of its existence is continuing to emerge.
Footage of the hardware revision itself has also emerged online, offering a look at what it will look like. As previous leaks have claimed, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be much smaller or slimmer than the existing PS5 models, though the footage does show slits running through its side panels. Presumably, users will be able to detach the right faceplate and replace it with a detachable disc drive. Check out the clip below, courtesy of @BwE_Dev on Twitter.
Previous reports have claimed that the new PS5 model will be out sometime in September, with a reveal allegedly planned for sometime this month.
Meanwhile, leaks have also claimed that a PS5 Pro is in the works. Sporting several hardware and technical upgrades, including support for 8K resolution and accelerated ray-tracing, it’s allegedly targeting a Holiday 2024 launch.
