Two of the biggest stars in wrestling, CM Punk, and Cody Rhodes, are injured, and MJF's promo from the June 1 edition of AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite is still at the forefront of people's minds. It was arguably the most explosive mic work since CM Punk's infamous pipe bomb promo and blurred the lines between reality in wrestling. It was divisive, to say the least, and still has people talking.
It's unclear where the shoot stopped and the work started, but MJF allegedly has real issues about his pay and treatment by AEW co-owner and founder Tony Khan. He no-showed a fan event ahead of the Double Or Nothing pay-per-view, and fans weren't sure if his match with Wardlow would go on or not. That bout ended up opening the show, and MJF was on the receiving end of 10 Wardlow powerbombs before getting stretchered out.

Now Jim Cornette has spoken his piece about MJF's pipe bomb on his Jim Cornette's Drive Thru podcast, noting the worked shoot feel of the segment. "It was a heel promo and a shoot promo… it was real. He's mad about this s*** and he's expressing his real opinion." Cornette went on to call Friedman's speech one of the "greatest promos ever given in the history of wrestling."
That is legitimately high praise from one of the tougher-to-please wrestling analysts in the trade. Cornette views wrestling through an old-school lens because of when he came up through the industry, and he isn't always enamored with how AEW does its business.
