Yamcha is perhaps the greatest disappointment in the entire Dragon Ball mythos as his first appearance made him seem like a seasoned warrior who would never back down from a fight, but his power level proved that he was actually pretty unremarkable. Upon looking back into the earliest days of his Dragon Ball career, it is revealed that Yamcha is actually even weaker than fans realize as he has one particular weakness that is just as pathetic as would be expected.
Yamcha made his debut in Dragon Ball Chapter 7 by Akira Toriyama. In that chapter, Yamcha is a desert bandit who makes his living robbing travelers who dare cross his path. Yamcha is equipped with a massive sword and boasts deadly fighting skills. However, when Yamcha faces off against Goku, who at this point is just a child, he loses after Goku unwittingly uses Yamcha's greatest weakness against him, and he runs away with his tail between his legs–leaving Goku and his companions to continue on their quest to find all seven of Earth’s Dragon Balls. Even though he was beaten, however, Yamcha devised a plan to get back at them and steal their belongings–though he had to work around that pathetic weakness of his if he hoped to achieve his villainous goal.
