T.J. Lavin, the host of The Challenge: USA, recently gave his thoughts on the cast of the CBS competition. T.J. has hosted The Challenge on MTV since 2005. The Challenge: USA premiered on July 6 with alumni from CBS reality competition shows including Big Brother, Survivor, The Amazing Race, and Love Island. The Challenge: USA features 28 competitors fighting for a $500,000 grand prize and the chance to be a contestant on The Challenge: Global Championship, also hosted by T.J., which will stream on Paramount+.
Contestants from Big Brother competing on The Challenge: USA includes Xavier Prather, Kyland Young, Azah Awasum, and Tiffany Mitchell, who were all part of The Cookout, which is regarded as the most successful alliance in BB history. There are several players from Survivor, including Domenick Abbate, Danny McCray, and Desi Williams. Three contestants from The Amazing Race are competing, James Wallington, Leo Temory, and Cayla Platt. In the first episode, Javonny Vega and Cely Vazquez from Love Island were eliminated.

In an interview with US Weekly to tease The Challenge: USA, T.J. Lavin admitted that some of the cast might «disappoint» fans. He explained, «There’s a couple of disappointments, maybe there might be two. I don’t know. But there’s been some disappointments for sure.» He did, however, admire the contestants competing on The Challenge: USA because they've been «battle-tested» on their other shows. T.J. also said that he does not watch the CBS reality competition shows, saying, «I didn’t even know Love Island was a show.»
