Microsoft and Bethesda are working on a Starfield showcase, and an Xbox showcase is planned for June, which means the platform has several major reveals and announcements planned for the coming months- but that might not be all. Though Microsoft is saving the bulk of its major announcements for the aforementioned showcase, it seems the company is also planning to make some relatively smaller-scale announcements planned for the time leading up to it.
That’s as per Xbox boss Phil Spencer, who said in a recent interview with Xbox On that though Microsoft is holding back most of its announcements and updates for the June showcase, the company is also planning to make some announcements before then that will be similar in nature to the reveal of GoldenEye 007 releasing for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
“A lot of our focus right now is on the showcase in June, but there’s some news that’s coming out,” Spencer said (transcribed by VGC). “Like, you know, like we did the GoldenEye [announcement], I’m thinking like, you know, GoldenEye type announces.”
What exactly that will entail remains to be seen, but one would assume Spencer is referring to announcements of remasters or re-releases of previously-released titles. Whether that includes older classics similar to GoldenEye is, of course, anyone’s best guess at this point, but it seems like we might not have to wait too long to find out.
Before Microsoft’s June showcase rolls around, the company will have released at least two more major games in Redfall and Minecraft Legends, while Forza Motorsport is also due out sometime this year.
