Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has provided an update on the Xbox summer showcase this June in Los Angeles, saying his company is primarily focused on preparations for that event right now. That being said, fans can expect other announcements before then.
Speaking to XboxOn, Spencer said, «We're mostly focused on June. We start so early. Like in December. What are we going to show? A lot of our focus right now is on the showcase in June. But there is some news that is coming out [before then].»
He said Xbox fans can expect some «GoldenEye-type [announcements]» ahead of the June showcase, adding that «there are some things that will come up.»
GoldenEye 007 for Xbox launched into Game Pass at the end of January, and it was (sort of) a surprise, but what another «GoldenEye-type announcement» might mean is unclear.
«There will be things and games available on different services; obviously the Game Pass portfolio continues to grow. But most of our focus as a team is really on getting ready for the showcase [in June],» Spencer said.
One of Microsoft's upcoming gaming announcements could be the formal confirmation of the Starfield showcase. An announcement of this event is expected any day now.
The Xbox showcase this June is taking place in Los Angeles, but the event isn't expected to be officially part of E3 2023. The show is scheduled for June 13-16 under new management by ReedPop, the group that organizes PAX and Star Wars Celebration, among other events.
