Meta users will be able to verify their accounts with a government ID, and get a blue badge as part of a new subscription service called Meta Verified, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced today in a Facebook post(Opens in a new window).
Starting this week, users in Australia and New Zealand will be able to sign up for the service. As The Verge notes(Opens in a new window), users who sign up for the service will receive exclusive stickers for Stories and Reels, as well as 100 free Facebook stars(Opens in a new window), the platform’s digital currency that allows users to tip creators.
It won’t be possible for Meta Verified users to change their profile name, username, birthday, or profile photo without going through the verification process again, The Verge reports.
