Yesterday, during Summer Game Fest 2024's IGN Live, Piranha Games unveiled the release date for MechWarrior 5: Clans. The narrative-driven game with co-op support will be released on October 3 for PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X with cross-play support.
Players will experience the Clan Invasion from the perspective of Clan Smoke Jaguar as they lead their five-mech 'Star' squad through engaging missions and combat, with cinematics unlike anything seen before in the franchise. The developers have also promised a story that will bring players across several planets and diverse biomes.
In a previous GDC 2024 interview with Wccftech, Piranha Games CEO Russ Bullock confirmed that the game uses Unreal Engine 5 to the fullest extent: Lumen, Nanite, MetaHuman, Chaos destructibility, and World Partition. MechWarrior 5: Clans will also ship with controller support on PC as well, though that was kind of a given considering the launch on consoles.
Despite being made with Unreal Engine 5, the official PC system requirements for MechWarrior 5: Clans are very low, as you can read below.
