has been cast in the forthcoming movie.
Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films are making a live-action Masters of the Universe movie that is expected to be released in June 2026. Red, White & Royal Blue’s Nicholas Galitzine has been cast as He-Man in the movie, while Riverdale’s Camila Mendes is playing Teela.
Now, per The Hollywood Reporter, Brie has been tapped to play the villainous Evil-Lyn, who is Skeletor’s second-in-command, in the film.
Brie is known for playing Annie Edison in NBC’s Community, Ruth Wilder in Netflix’s GLOW, and for voicing Diane Nguyen in BoJack Horseman, among other television roles. She’s starred in movies such as 2011’s Scream 4, 2012’s The Five-year Engagement, 2013’s The Kings of Summer, 2014’s Search Party, 2016’s How to Be Single, 2017’s The Post, 2017’s The Disaster Artist, 2020’s Promising Young Woman, 2020’s The Rental, and 2020’s Happiest Season.
Additionally, she voices Princess Unikitty in The Lego Movie franchise.
While plot details remain largely under wraps at this time, The Hollywood Reporter’s article notes, “The concept centers on the character of Prince Adam of Eternia who, thanks to his Power Sword, turns into the muscular He-Man and is imbued with superhuman strength and abilities. With his assortment of allies, he defends the planet from the evil Skeletor and his armies.”
The film is being directed by Travis Knight, who previously made 2016’s Kubo and the Two Strings and 2018’s Bumblebee. He’s also working on another movie for Laika titled Wildwood, which will be released in 2025.
The screenplay is being written by Chris Butler, while previous drafts were worked on by David Callaham, Aaron Nee, and Adam Nee.
Masters of the Universe will be released in United States theaters on June 5, 2026.
