The Marvel Multiverse is everywhere nowadays, from movies and series produced by Marvel Studios to the comics published by Marvel, but the new Spider-Gwen: Gwenverse series is teasing that the whole Multiverse is headed towards a disastrous ending that could leave even Kang the Conqueror shocked.
The concept of a Multiverse made by infinite parallel dimensions has existed for a long time in Marvel Comics, at least since the late 1970s. In recent years, it has become more popular after the success of the Loki Marvel Studios series, which built on the concept as it was presented in the movie Avengers: Endgame (and expanded more recently in Spider-Man: No Way Home). In the comics, the Multiverse became a prominent feature after the end of the Secret Wars event, where the many Marvel parallel realities were first wiped out by the Beyonders and then rebuilt by Reed Richards and his family. The Multiverse is now an important feature in many Marvel stories, including Avengers: Forever and a new series that debuted in March, starring the fan-favorite character of Spider-Gwen.
