Warning: contains spoilers for X-Force Annual #1
The X-Men hero Wolverine is one of the deadliest mutants in the world. Besides his indestructible bones, sharp claws, and a healing factor that can make him recover from grievous injuries, Logan is also an expert warrior who's survived countless bloody battles. However, Wolverine still has one major weakness that's nothing short of hilarious. This weak spot has been exploited by Orchis, a faction committed to eradicating mutants from the world, with gruesome results for Logan.
Orchis is a secret organization founded by some of the top scientific minds that mankind has to offer, recruited from many high-level groups such as HYDRA, A.I.M., S.H.I.E.L.D., and H.A.M.M.E.R. Orchis predicts that after the mutants finally overcame their differences and banded together to found the nation of Krakoa they will slowly but inevitably replace humankind and all other non-mutant species in the galaxy unless they are stopped. Orchis is Krakoa's premier enemy, and they have already achieved the dangerous objectives of creating a Mother Mold (luckily destroyed by the X-Men) and Nimrod, the ultimate form of Sentinel that was not supposed to appear until a distant future. To defend against Orchis and other threats to Krakoa's survival, the Silent Council authorized the creation of a new X-Force, an intelligence/covert ops team that takes on the missions and dirty jobs that the official X-Men team cannot handle.
