The deadliest enemies of the X-Men have stolen mutantkind's world-altering plant-life, and now Wolverine is leading his X-Force team on a lethal mission to retrieve it. In a preview for X-Force Annual #1 — by Nadia Shammas, Rafael Pimentel, Carlos Lopez, and Joe Caramagna — the team is attempting to strike at Orchis before it's too late.
X-Force is a special ops team that operates on the fringes of Krakoan society, undertaking the covert operations and dirty jobs that the «official» X-Mean team cannot undertake without risking their public image. X-Force was originally assembled and trained by Cable to create a strike force that would take an activist stance towards mutantkind's problems. This meant that the team was not against the use of lethal force, and this outlook has remained consistent in X-Force's various incarnations over the years. The current team essentially functions as the nation of Krakoa's own secret service. The «intelligence branch» operates under the guidance of the Beast, aided by Sage, while Wolverine supervises field operations and special ops, together with Domino and Kid Omega.

Among the many enemies that X-Force has to watch over, the most prominent is surely Orchis; the top-secret organization created by human supremacists to prevent mutants from becoming the planet's dominant species. Orchis was able to create the powerful Sentinel Nimrod, and they are now engaged in a covert war against Krakoa.
