Elon Musk Twitter followers are bots, or fake accounts? At least that is what the data from SparkToro claims after its tool carried out a survey. In fact, it says that while all celebrity accounts have followings from several bots or fake accounts, Elon Musk is the king when it comes to being followed by these bots or fake accounts. This comes up just days after the news broke out of the Tesla and SpaceX owner and founder signing off a deal to acquire Twitter as a whole for a sum of $44 billion.
The SparkToro tool can be accessed by anyone to check the number of fake followers on Twitter. The audit data is collected from a sample of 2000 random accounts, which leads to question the authenticity of the data. Hence, we can’t authenticate the data and suggest you should take this a pinch of salt. Elon Musk is yet to say anything on the front, although he had expressed his intentions to get rid of the bots spamming Twitter at the moment.
The SparkToro audit tool suggests that 53.3 percent of Elon Musk followers are fake followers , which Ould consist of spam accounts, or bots. It may even contain those accounts that arena longer active.
“This audit analyses a sample of 2,000 random accounts from the most recent 100,000 accounts that follow elonmusk, then looks at 25+ factors correlated with spam/ bot/ low quality accounts,” said the SparkToro in a statement to The Independent.
“Accounts with a similar sized following to @elonmusk have a median of 41% fake followers. This account has more fake followers than most,” says SparToro on its result page.
