Nintendo has published 2.4.0 for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Of course, if you already have a copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and have the Booster Course Pass either from a separate download or as part of your Switch Online subscription, you can have your Nintendo Switch just automatically download the update, alongside the new content, in the background. That’s true even if the screen is turned off, and the only way it won’t happen is if the console itself is off.
As reported by Nintendo Everything, the major addition from this update is compatibility to the latest Booster Course Pass content, Wave 5. That includes three new playable characters, and two new cups, with eight new courses in total. We have outlined them each below:
Cherry Cup
Feather Cup
New Racers
Yours truly took Wiggler for a brief spin while writing this article, and can confirm that he still turns a cherry red when you hit him with an item and harsh his buzz.
Even if you don’t have the Booster Course Pass, the regular game gets a host of other updates so you can look forward to further gameplay tweaks regardless.
