Epic Games has teased that LEGO Fortnite players will soon be able to properly tame and interact with animals, adding further depth to the free-to-play survival experience. Players may choose to use these immersive new features to befriend the many animals of LEGO Fortnite,or to create functional farms for their LEGO villages.
Launched last December, LEGO Fortnite offers gamers an exciting new way to play Epic Games’ ever-expanding title. Combing the creative freedom of previous LEGO video games and Minecraft, LEGO Fortnite offers a break from the typical frantic mayhem of Fortnite’s battle royale mode. Gamers can choose to either brave the wilds of unique LEGO landscapes in survival mode, or let their imaginations run wild in a safe sandbox experience. Since its launch, LEGO and Epic Games have expanded the game with new modes and scenarios, utilizing the Unreal Editor for Fortnite to create several new LEGO Fortnite Islands.
The game’s Twitter page has just hinted at yet another exciting update headed to LEGO Fortnite. LEGO Fortnite's procedurally generated worlds are filled with all manner of animals, both friendly and aggressive, but somefans have been disappointed by the limited ways the game allows players to interact with them. The upcoming update appears to address these concerns. In the short teaser video, a player is shown petting a sheep who then appears to happily follow the character, eager to live with them in the village. It seems that players will soon be able to tame and direct animals far more easily, making farming a more viable option to gather essential food and resources.
LEGO Fortnite currently allows players to pet and feed wild animals, such as chickens, sheep, and cows, receiving resources like eggs, wool, and milk in return. Players are also able to use food trails to lure and trap animals into makeshift pens. However, this process is far from ideal, and some players have found that the tenacious creatures often have a habit of escaping.
