Dungeons & Dragons is the game that never dies. Created in 1974, the tabletop RPG has gone on to inspire legions of other games--including the newly released and incredibly popular Baldur’s Gate 3. Anyone interested in learning the basics of D&D will be glad to know that a bunch of rulebooks are now on sale at Amazon, making it pretty affordable to pick up the beloved hobby.
Anyone looking to run a D&D campaign as a Dungeon Master will need a copy of the Master’s Guide, which is discounted to just $25 right now. It’ll teach you how to create and manage your own game, provides you with a tour of each plane of the D&D multiverse, and introduces you to the concepts you need to craft entertaining encounters. The Monster Manual is also a great book to pick up, and it's on sale for even less.
If you’re not looking to run a campaign as a Dungeon Master and simply want to create a character, then you’ll need to check out the Dungeons and Dragons: Player’s Handbook. Currently on sale for just $26 (down from $50), it has everything you need to know to play D&D, along with a guide for creating your character. It’s a good book to have on hand during a game too, as it comes with a reference for more than 350 spells and items you might encounter during your adventure.
Aside from those two books, you’ll find a few other great rulebooks for beginners. And once you’re ready to expand your campaigns, there are plenty of expansions for you to peruse. Here’s a look at some other great D&D book deals.
