Konami Is Changing Its Name To Konami Group Corporation For Its 50th Anniversary

Konami Holdings Corporation will soon be changing its name as part of the company's 50th anniversary celebrations later this year. The company's board of directors have decided to rename the company to Konami Group Corporation, which will be finalized upon approval by the shareholders (thanks, VGC). If everything goes smoothly, the change should come into effect on July 1.

“Since its establishment, the Company has expanded its business as a pioneer in the Japanese entertainment industry and now operates in four business segments: Digital Entertainment, Amusement, Gaming & Systems, and Sports,” said Konami in a statement.

“In marking the Company’s 50th anniversary since its establishment, we will change the trade name so that we, along with its group companies, will continue to take on new challenges and strive for further growth as a sustainable company.”

Konami has had all eyes on the recently released major update for eFootball. The game launched with numerous issues, primarily related to the game's broken animations, that made players look rather nightmarish.

“It’s hard to point to one deciding aspect,” said a spokesperson before the launch of the update. “The incompletion of the game came as a result of multiple factors including the transition to a new football game engine, the support of next generation consoles such as PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the change of play style to free to play and furthermore, we tried to deliver new eFootball 2022 for players as soon as possible."
