Arc System Works has announced that it will be holding a special presentation to celebrate the “almost” first anniversary of its gorgeous fighting sequel Guilty Gear Strive. The amusingly titled Guilty Gear Strive Almost-One-Year Anniversary Broadcast is scheduled to take place later this month on May 25.
While details are fairly slim, fans can expect a retrospective of GG Strive‘s first year on the scene, complete with exhibition matches, interviews, and lots of juicy footage. The main reason GG players will be watching, however, pertains to the apocalyptic fighter’s second season, which will bring with it further characters, stages, balance tweaks, crossplay support, and more. While I wouldn’t expect all of this content to be revealed on May 25, I would be surprised if we did not get at least a hint of a new character.
Guilty Gear Strive has done an excellent job of making a name for itself since its initial launch last summer. Easily the most popular, (if perhaps not the most loved), iteration in recent memory, GG Strive has won over a bevy of new players with its slightly stripped-back gameplay, lush visuals, and wild roster of engaging and colorful warriors.
While much grumbling can be found on social media regarding Strive, ArcSys’ scrapper is currently the most popular title lined up for the EVO 2022 tournament — currently pushing 1,500 player sign-ups and beating out tourney mainstays such as Tekken 7 and Street Fighter V.
The Guilty Gear Strive Almost-One-Year Anniversary Broadcast can be watched on Arc System Works Japan’s YouTube channel. The action kicks off on May 25 at 20:00 JST / 04:00 PT / 07:00. That’s pretty early, but don’t sweat it, as we’ll be sure to bring you all the hot gossip right here on
