Konami has opened a new studio in Osaka, which it calls a “major production center”.
Konami Osaka Studio is located at the Osaka Umeda Twin Towers South business centre, and will follow the mantra “creators first”, according to Konami.
The company says the new studio “is characterised by a well-developed environment where creators can demonstrate their full potential, and is set up in a location with convenient transportation access.
It adds: “As the major production center in Western Japan, the facility is fully equipped with motion capture equipments and sound studios necessary for product development.”
Konami celebrated its 50th anniversary last month, and says the Osaka studio is designed to help the company “continue sustainable growth in the next 50 years”.
As well as its newly-opened Osaka studio, construction work is also underway on Konami’s new “next generation R&D centre” in Tokyo, Konami Creative Front Tokyo Bay, which is set to be completed in 2025.
As part of its New Year greeting, Konami made reference to “new games for well-known series”, likely referencing the roster of Silent Hill games and Castlevania collaboration announced last year.
However, it also said it was planning to make new announcements regarding projects “deeply and quietly underway” behind the scenes.
VGC first reported in 2021 that Konami was looking to revive many of its major franchises, including Silent Hill (which was eventually announced last year), Castlevania and Metal Gear.
Sources claimed that one title in development at Singapore-based support studio Virtuous was a new version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. A recruitment video posted by the company later appeared to hint at the project.
