Do you love deck-building roguelites? And what if it comes with a splash of magic and has pixelated visuals? Well, it’s actually KEMCO’s upcoming game. Called Novel Rogue, it’s now open for pre-registration on the Google Play Store.
Set in a magical Ancient Library, Novel Rogue centres around a young apprentice named Write. He is training under Yuisil, the Witch of Portals. Write’s magical homework involves exploring four enchanted tomes, each pulling him into a totally different realm.
So, you’ll be stumbling upon different scenarios. For instance, at one moment, you’re trying to reclaim a fallen kingdom; the next, you’re neck-deep in unravelling some underworld mystery. Your choices shape the lives of the characters you meet along the way.
Novel Rogue mixes deck-building with roguelite mechanics. You’ll face off in turn-based battles. You build and tweak your decks across four unique systems, each tied to one of the magical books.
And then there’s the Ink. It’s a resource you’ll use to power up your deck and adjust your strategy on the fly. There are special endings to unlock, so you’re rewarded for thinking outside the box.
Novel Rogue is completely free to play. However, you can snag the Ad Eliminator as an in-app purchase. Just keep in mind that this doesn’t include the bonus 150 Witch Stones. There’s a premium edition available that throws them in. Also, save data isn’t transferable between the free and premium versions.
KEMCO has opened pre-registration for Novel Rogue, so you can check it out on the Google Play Store. The game comes with controller compatibility and will be available in Japanese and English.
