As the world prepares for the iPhone SE 3 launch, Xiaomi took this moment to confirms its global launch event for its flagship Xiaomi 12 series. Don’t worry, it is not happening tonight. But it is happening exactly a week from today. The Xiaomi 12 series will be unveiled to the global markets on March 15. And Xiaomi once again hints that this phone will be all about top-notch camera performance. There’s no word on which models will we get to see this time, and whether the rumoured Xiaomi 12 Ultra break cover at this event.
The Xiaomi 12 series was launched in China just before 2022 started. At the moment, the Xiaomi 12 Pro is technically the most advanced conventional phone Xiaomi sells at the moment. These models are accompanied by a saner Xiaomi 12 with lesser capable cameras, and an even more affordable Xiaomi 12X with a much older Snapdragon 870 chipset. Rumours have also suggested that the Xiaomi 12 series could soon launch in India, possibly by the end of this month.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro is the flagship model at the moment, getting a bigger 6.7-inch 1440p AMOLED display with a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip powers the phone and this is backed by a 4600mAh battery relying on a 120W fast charging system. There is also a 50W wireless charging solution present.
As for the rear cameras, there’s a 50MP main camera using a Sony IMX707 sensor with 1/1.28-inch sensor size. This is accompanied by a 50MP portrait camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. There's a new CyberFocus autofocus system that can lock focus on a particular subject's face. The Xiaomi 12 Pro starts at Yuan 4,699 (approx. ₹55,000) for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
