The Hubble Space Telescope has been ‘on duty' for the last 30 years and not even a single time has it failed to surprise us. The images Hubble Telescope has captured have been mesmerizing us for decades. Now, it has performed yet another miracle and managed to capture the exact moment in time that an extremely young start threw a tantrum! NASA's Hubble Telescope has captured a laser-like jet that represents a 'stellar tantrum' thrown up by an extremely young star in the earliest phase of its formation. The outburst of lightning streaks in the image shared by NASA, which is captured by the Hubble telescope, portrays an energetic discharge from an infant star and a jet of gas traveling at supersonic speeds.
"The result is the colourfully wispy structures," NASA defines the image. Also, astronomers refer to these colourful structures as Herbig–Haro objects - that are seen to evolve and change significantly over just a few years. Well, this was not the first time when NASA's Hubble telescope spotted and captured this object. The young star, dubbed HH34, was captured by the Hubble Telescope between 1994 and 2007 too. And in 2015 it was shot in high definition. "HH34 resides approximately 1,250 light-years from Earth in the Orion Nebula, a large region of star formation visible to the unaided eye," NASA explains.
NASA further mentioned that the Hubble Telescope paved the way for future science that will be taken forward by its 'heir', the James Webb Space Telescope, which is to observe in infrared wavelengths. This will help to peer into the dusty envelopes around the developing protostars while revolutionizing the study of jets from these young stars.
Launched in 1990, NASA's Hubble telescope completed 30 years of its service.
