The first Sith apprentice of Darth Vader shown in the Star Wars franchise created her own lightsaber fighting style, nearly killing Luke Skywalker with it in the classic Marvel comics. Kharys, a S'kytri who met Darth Vader during the Clone Wars when he was Anakin Skywalker, became his unofficial Sith pupil following the Galactic Empire’s autocratic coup of the Galactic Republic at the end of the war. Kharys was a deadly dark side user and lightsaber-wielder, creating a fighting style that took advantage of her species’ ability to fly. The clash took place in the now out of canon Star Wars Legends continuity, but may well be mined for future canon stories.
While Jedi and Sith have fundamentally different philosophies, they share some common practices, such as the use of lightsabers and the seven forms of lightsaber combat. Darth Vader was one of the greatest users of Form V, a style that resembles real-world broadsword fighting, kendo, and fencing. Vader had mastered Form V during his time as a Jedi Knight and continued to prefer the style as a Sith Lord, but Kharys chose a different style as his unofficial Sith apprentice.

Kharys developed a new style called Trispzest, based on the vicious Form VII of lightsaber combat but modified for lightsaber-wielders who can fly, with heavy inspiration from non-Force-using S'kytri swords fighters. Form VII was a favorite among dark side users, particularly Sith, with Darth Maul and Emperor Palpatine preferring the ferocious dark side-fueled fighting style.
