Star Wars has revealed the first meeting between Luke Skywalker and Grogu has yet to be shown. The Mandalorian season 2 focused on Din Djarin's mission to find a Jedi who would train Grogu in the ways of the Force. He found his way to Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker's old Padawan, who sent him to the Jedi planet Tython.
In the old Expanded Universe, Tython was the home world of the Jedi. That's not the case in Disney's canon — corrupt archaeologist Doctor Aphra described it as having been found by "the earliest Jedi cults" in one comic — but it's still a powerful vergence in the Force. By meditating on a so-called "seeing stone," Grogu was able to reach out across the cosmos and draw the attention of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. The mystical experience Grogu went through was never shown, however, with The Mandalorian simply showing him encased in an impenetrable energy field until it was completed. Fortunately, an excerpt from a tie-in novel, Adam Christopher's upcoming novel Shadow of the Sith, shows what it's like to use the seeing stone on Tython.

The excerpt is set years after the events of The Mandalorian season 2, shortly before the sequel trilogy. Luke Skywalker himself uses the Force vergence on Tython in an attempt to discover the location of the Sith redoubt of Exegol. His consciousness is actually transferred to the place he is seeking, more than a mere vision because it is as though he is there, even battling the Sith spirits defending Exegol. This has enormous implications for The Mandalorian season 2, because it's reasonable to assume Grogu's experience was a similar one, and that his consciousness was transported in some mystical
