While the X-Men came together under the guidance and leadership of their mentor, Charles Xavier, Marvel Comics revealed that even the leading members among them learned what it really means to be a hero from Spider-Man. Colossus has recently become a member of the Quiet Council of Krakoa, thereby making him a leader among the entire mutant community. Since he has proven himself to be a loyal and honest man in the past, his inclusion on the council was an easy decision especially given the amount of shady characters that make up the governmental body. Years earlier, however, Colossus reveals exactly why he is such a good man worthy of his X-Men leadership role, that it’s all thanks to Spider-Man’s inspiring motto.
In the Marvel Comics one-shot X-Men vs Hulk by Chris Claremont and Jheremy Raapack, Colossus is on a hike in the wilderness of upstate New York along with Kate Pryde and Lockheed. During their relaxing trek through the forest, the X-Men are attacked by the Hulk, and due to the abrupt nature of the unprovoked strike, Colossus didn’t hesitate to fight back against the monstrous green behemoth.

The two super strong heroes didn’t hold back as Colossus continued to defend himself and Kate against the Hulk while every punch he threw made the Hulk even madder, and therefore even stronger as the fight raged on. Eventually, Colossus was thrown into a mud pit and began to quickly sink to the bottom. With the threat of death looming over him, Colossus accepted the fact that he might not make it out of this predicament.
