Although Charles Xavier appeared in most of FOX's X-Men films, there's still an unexplored side to the character that the MCU could dive into in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and beyond. After years of wishful thinking, the mutants are finally heading home. Two decades and 13 films later, the X-Men will become part of a larger Marvel universe and could debut in the MCU at any time. While not many details are known about how the mutants will be introduced into the franchise in full force, an event that was teased with the inclusion of Ursa Major in Black Widow, the MCU's X-Men will be an opportunity to take a fresh look at some previously seen characters.
Whether in the original films or in theX-Men: First Class timeline, Professor Xavier has always been one of the highlights of the X-Men franchise. Both Patrick Stewart's and James McAcvoy's portrayals of Xavier were memorable in the eyes of the public and are often pointed to as some of the best adaptations of a comic book character to the big screen. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has teased the possibility of Patrick Stewart's Professor Xavier returning as the head of the Illuminati, and with the multiverse and variants in full effect after, it is feasible that James McAvoy's portrayal of Charles Xavier will make an appearance as well.
