Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse producer Chris Miller reacts to the film's recently announced release date delay. The upcoming animated movie is a sequel to 2018's wildly popular Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which earned widespread critical acclaim upon its release. The story saw Miles Morales team up with a group of other super-powered Spider-people from parallel universes, including Spider-Gwen and an older, down-on-his-luck Peter B. Parker. These three are set to reunite in Across the Spider-Verse, joined by other characters such as Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman.
Due to the success of the original film, Across the Spider-Verse is highly-anticipated. Unfortunately, audiences are going to have to wait longer to see Miles' next adventure on the big screen. Sony announced Across the Spider-Verse's release date is delayed to June 2023, pushing it back from its previously scheduled October 2022 premiere. The news came as disappointment to viewers looking forward to the movie, but at least one member of the creative team has a more optimistic outlook.
