Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is just days away from arriving on PC and all major consoles, including PlayStation 4 and 5. And unlike some of Gearbox’s recent games, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will have full crossplay, finally allowing PlayStation players to game with Xbox and PC players.
The news comes straight from Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, who made the announcement on Twitter yesterday.

"Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will ship on March 25 with full crossplay for all platforms at launch, including PlayStation,” wrote Pitchford. “Incredible work from the engineers at Gearbox Software with thanks to our partners at 2k Games and 1st parties, including Sony, for working together on this.”
Full crossplay on Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands comes in stark contrast to Borderlands 3, which allowed crossplay in Xbox, PC, and Stadia, but not PlayStation consoles. The reason for PlayStation’s exclusion was initially cloudy, with Pitchford explaining it was due to a requirement “by the publisher to remove crossplay support on PlayStation consoles.” We only found out later during the fallout from the Epic vs Apple lawsuit that Sony actually charged publishers to enable crossplay on any games played on PlayStation.
Why would Sony charge for crossplay? Well, from Sony’s perspective, they’ve already got the majority of players on their console, so enabling crossplay would only encourage some of those players to purchase a competing console. So to convince Sony to enable crossplay on PlayStation, the publisher had to agree to a revenue-sharing model where a small percentage of all sales on competing consoles would go to Sony.
