It's been a long time coming, but the PS5 has finally topped six million sales in Japan. The current-gen console's been heading towards that milestone for months, but a lack of notable system sellers has meant slow progress. Still, it's something for Sony to celebrate in its native country. For reference, the PS4 has sold around 9 million units in Japan since its launch in the region, over ten years ago.
Meanwhile, a handful of PlayStation games have shown up in the software charts — which makes a nice change! Gundam Breaker 4 took third place on PS5, with Visions of Mana just behind it. The PS4 versions of both titles made the top ten as well.
Also, Star Wars Outlaws ducked into eighth, with just over 10,000 copies sold. Far from blockbuster numbers, but as always, it's worth reiterating that these Famitsu charts do not count digital sales.
Break it back down
Branching out
Villainous to the end
Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) is an assistant editor of Push Square, and has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he's played 'em all. A little too much, some might say.
Pleased to see Outlaws make a mark if only a small one, will be interesting to see where Astrobot charts over there!
I'm really tempted by Breakers 4 having read the review on here!
BTW that game at #2 sounds like something off shooting stars!!
Nice to see Visions of Mana did well especially after Ouka Studios got shut down by NetEase the day the game released.
Now let's see if Japan gonna buy Astro Bot or not...
Concord's position on the leaderboard matched exactly how many sales it made. Probably.
GB4 and Visions of Mana both deserve it! Really having great times with both games.
Visions feels like going back to the old times of more traditional action RPG with some great visuals
