This morning, Yoshimi Yasuda, former CEO of Kadokawa Games, announced that Grasshopper Manufacture’s cult classic, , will be getting remade.
Yasuda, who produced the original game, made a lengthy statement on Twitter, revealing a number of details about the upcoming remake. It’s set to release sometime next year, is being supported by Warner Bros., and will feature more “realistic” graphics. While originally featured plenty of licensed music, Yasuda said that the remake will only be able to feature a few licensed songs, with the rest of the soundtrack being made up of new tracks.

The original was written by Masahiro Yuki and James Gunn, the latter of whom would go on to write and direct the series of films and , as well as numerous other projects.
“Juliet Starling uncovers the root of a zombie outbreak,” reads the game’s synopsis. “She must balance the drama of high school while carrying out her zombie-hunting lineage and chainsaw skills to string together lethal combo moves, taking out scores of the undead.”
