Guardians of the GalaxyVol. 3 director James Gunn has the perfect response to NASA's colorful new space photos. Released in 2014, Gunn's first Guardians of the Galaxy became a surprise hit, introducing audiences to a lesser-known team of Marvel heroes and featuring a unique visual flair. Gunn followed the original film with 2017's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, a film that doubled down on the colorful and slightly off-beat tone of the original, which again proved popular with both audiences and critics.
Although Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy have since appeared in the likes of Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Thor: Love and Thunder, the long-awaited third film has yet to come to fruition. Little is known about the project, but it is expected to mark the conclusion of the journies of the characters played by Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldaña, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, and Vin Diesel. With filming on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 having wrapped earlier this year, the film is currently in post-production with a release date currently set for next spring.
