Lollipop Chainsaw is coming back with an all-new remake but this revival doesn't involve original writer and producer James Gunn and Goichi Suda (online alias Suda51) respectively as confirmed on their own Twitter accounts.
James Gunn shared a news article announcing the remake from Dragami Games, adding, "To answer the question in the article, neither I nor Suda51 are currently involved in this. I heard about it for the first time from Suda a couple weeks ago."

Lollipop Chainsaw is a PS3 and Xbox 360 hack-and-slash where you play as Juliet Starling, a cheerleader with a chainsaw fending off zombies to the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic California high school. It was developed by Grasshopper Manufacture, the same studio behind No More Heroes, Shining Soul, and The Silver Case. Yesterday, it was announced that original and new developers were collaborating on a remake set to launch in 2023.
However, while Gunn and Suda51 aren't involved, Gunn did say, "I neither endorse nor condemn [the remake]! I simply don't know anything about it. But as articles are starting to slap our names on there, I think it's important to make clear no one ever approached us about it."
It's not just Gunn and Suda51 who aren't returning—the more modern remake won't share all the same music. "Aside from a few licensed tracks, the soundtrack will consist of new music," Dragami Games founder Yoshimi Yasuda said. He also added that it would have "a more realistic approach to graphics" as opposed to the original's more stylised aesthetic.
Originally, it was an idea brought to life by Suda51 and James Gunn, the latter of whom worked on many of its characters and its story.
