With Patch 9.2 releasing next week, there is currently no consumable that has been datamined to allow players to add sockets to items similar to previous patches. This could be still something Blizzard adds to 9.2 for launch, or perhaps something encrypted, but, at the moment, there are no items in the game to allow players to add sockets to items.
This comes as a stark change as both Shadowlands Seasons 1 and 2 had Spatial Realignment Apparatus and Alloy-Warping Facetor respectively. Unlike its counterpart, Alloy-Warping Facetor saw little use.
This is due to Domination gear not being allowed to receive sockets, reducing drastically the number of sockets in gear during Season 2 for players using Domination sockets. This change was first made in BFA Season 4 in response to complaints that sockets to items just added an unnecessary layer of RNG to gearing, leading to the addition of Gouged Eye of N'Zoth which allowed you to add sockets to any item, giving players new ways to improve their characters.
