Edgar Wright has praised a car chase scene from The Batman. Robert Pattinson is starring as the Caped Crusader in the character's latest outing, which is directed by Matt Reeves. Reeves, whose previous projects have included Cloverfield and the Planet of the Apes trilogy, will be using his version of Batman to tell a detective noir story and was given a high level of creative control by Warner Bros. This may be partially due to the film being set in the DCEU's Earth-2, meaning both Pattinson's and Ben Affleck's portrayals of Batman are able to exist independently of each other. Despite numerous setbacks on the film's production and release date due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it's still received largely positive reviews ahead of its release, with The Batman being certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes beforehand.
Wright's career as a writer/director began in the UK, where he made low-budget independent films and directed for TV before he was approached to direct Spaced. On the show, he worked with frequent collaborators Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who would also join him in making the iconic Cornetto Trilogy; Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End. Since then, Wright has also made a name for himself in the US following Scott Pilgrim Vs The World — a cult classic despite bombing at the box office upon its initial release. Wright's films have undoubtedly become more and more elaborate with time. His attention to detail in action sequences was particularly obvious in his film Baby Driver, which heavily features car chase sequences meticulously in sync to the film's soundtrack.
