A new trailer and poster for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 continue to poke fun at The Batman, parodying the DC Comics hero. Matt Reeves' long-awaited film starring Robert Pattinson as the titular hero was released on March 4, 2022. The sequel to 2020's Sonic the Hedgehog is set to be released on April 8th, 2022.
Ushering in a new continuity for DC's growing film franchise, many fans anticipated the arrival of The Batman in theatres after delays and rescheduling. Following a younger, less precise, and rougher Bruce Wayne in the early days of his career, Batman faces the schemes of a sinister, more mysterious take on the Riddler, portrayed by Paul Dano. While Reeves and Pattinson's The Batman leans more heavily into a darker, grounded, and gritty world, the hero has recently become the subject of parody by one of the most unlikely characters. After the release of a Batman-inspired poster, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has continued to poke fun at the recently released DC Comics movie with two new pieces of the promotional material.

Following the release of The Batman, Paramount Pictures have uploaded a new trailer to their YouTube channel that parodies the Dark Knight. In the trailer, Sonic (Ben Schwartz) utters a Batman-inspired monologue, overlooking a police chase through the city streets as he proclaims himself "Blue Justice". Following the Batman nod, the trailer features a number of scenes showing Sonic facing Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and Knuckles (Idris Elba), Tails (Colleen O'Shaughnessy), as well as the gigantic Death Egg robot.
