The upcoming season 2 premiere, «Dollhouse,» sees American Horror Story veteran Denis O'Hare take the wheel as keeper of the titular dollhouse; a glorified, ornate prison for its young, female inhabitants. Trapped within its four walls and forced against their will to dress up as porcelain dolls for the pleasure of their twisted captor are characters portrayed by newcomers Kristine Froseth, Abigale Corrigan, Simone Recasner, and Emily Morales Cabrera. The beating heart of the episode, however, might prove to be something else — in the form of a subtle tie-in to the franchise's most popular witch-centric season.

The terrified child clutching a toy doll at the side of Denis O'Hare's character in the official American Horror Stories season 2 trailer is thought to be none other than a younger version of Spalding, whose older counterpart is played by O'Hare in American Horror Story: Coven. The fan theory suggests that O'Hare is portraying the father of his season 3 character this time around, with the 1960s-set «Dollhouse» caper serving as an origin story for Spalding, who eventually winds up at Miss Robichaux's Academy, subservient to the descendants of Salem.
