Sarah Paulson says she isn’t sure if she’ll return to American Horror Story. The actress began her career acting in New York City stage productions, before moving on to star in series like American Gothic and Jack & Jill. While she had been in a few movies before, the early 2000s included her delving into film more. From 2006-2007, Paulson starred in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and received her first Golden Globe nomination. She also appeared on Broadway and later in a number of independent films. The 2010s notably saw Paulson featured in critically-acclaimed films like 12 Years a Slave, Carol, and The Post, all of which were nominated for multiple Academy Awards. Other notable films in her filmography include New Year's Eve, Ocean's 8, Bird Box, Glass, and Run.
Paulson is also largely known for her work with writer, director, and producer Ryan Murphy—the man behind many popular series, including Glee, American Horror Story, Scream Queens, American Crime Story, Pose, and Ratched. She first began working with Murphy in 2011, guest appearing in «Murder House,» the first season of American Horror Story. Paulson has been in every AHS season except 1984, the series' ninth. Amidst her history with American Horror Story, she also starred in the first season of American Crime Story, “The People v. O.J. Simpson,” which landed her an Emmy, as well as the third season, «Impeachment.» She's also appeared in the first season of Feud, «Bette and Joan,» and starred as the titular character in Ratched.
