Alden Ehrenreich from Solo: A Star Wars Story has joined the cast ofIronheart, the upcoming Marvel Studios series for Disney Plus centring on newcomer Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams.
Marvel Studios first announced an Ironheart series was going to be a part of its slate during Disney's investor day in December 2020. As in the comics, the Ironheart series will focus on a genius inventor named Riri Williams, a young woman who creates a suit of armour that rivals the Iron Man suit of Tony Stark.

While Deadline broke the news of Ehrenreich joining the cast ofIronheart, it is currently unknown who the actor will be playing. That said, the outlet noted that Ehrenreich was joining the show in a «key role,» though Marvel Studios reportedly declined the comment on the matter. Ehrenreich joins a cast that currently includes Anthony Ramos, Harper Anthony, Manny Montana, and Lyric Ross. In most cases the roles of these actors are unknown, but Ross was cast as a character described as Riri's best friend. In the comics, Riri creates an AI companion called N.A.T.A.L.I.E based on her late friend Natalie, though it remains to be seen if either version of the character is the role Ross will be playing.
Ironheart will mark Ehrenreich's first collaboration with Disney, the parent company of Marvel Studios, since Solo: A Star Wars Story. Ehrenreich portrayed a young Han Solo in the Star Wars anthology film, but the feature failed to generate the box office revenue expected of the franchise. The disappointing performance actually prompted Lucasfilm to revise its approach to anthology projects and focus on Disney Plus programming instead.
